A Long Overdue Update: Welcome to the Harmon's in the Fall!

Please accept our apologies for such a long absence from our blog;
we're quite busy being married :)

We've had a lot of things going on the past few months.
Today, I decided to surprise my husband by cleaning the entire apartment
from top to bottom. Not that Joe doesn't keep the place very tidy, but I was in the mood
to clean. Plus I knew it would make him happy. So I thought I'd share with you all some
pictures of what our home looks like when it is clean and all is right with the world. (Also,
they say if you take a picture, it lasts longer :)
The picture above is our dining room. I love the decorations, but I can't wait to switch out the fall stuff for the Christmas stuff...

This is a view of the dining room from the living room. Yellow is so happy
in a kitchen/dining room.

Our kitchen, although yellow, is not my favorite room. Its really small
and Joe and I barely fit in there together. But not much cooking goes on in there either, so
its not a big deal really :)

Our most comfy living room. We have two oversized couches with
cozy pillows and blankets cuz we like to snuggle. I love the lighting in here; thanks to the
Hormuth ladies for our lovely lamps! Finally we've got some good light in here; Joe only had
a dorm quality standing lamp previously. That's still here, but the other lamps outshine it.

The bedroom is probably my favorite room next to the living room. Its so cozy and relaxing, and it's the biggest room in our apartment. It's nowhere near proportionate to the rest of the place, in fact, because it truly is a large space, and the rest of the place is pretty small.

We can fit a love seat very comfortably on the other side of our bedroom. And two ottomans.
Our old security team, Boogie and Skunky, keep watch over us from their thrones on the sofa as Joe and I sleep. Sometimes they even read books from our bookshelves in the bedroom :P

And finally, the bathroom. Not too crazy about a wooden toilet seat, but other than that, it's very roomy and serves us well. We painted it stormy blue when Joe moved in; it used to be Cubby bear blue with a flower border (?!?!) which was nasty. I'm a Cubs fan, but even I know better than to keep a bathroom that is Cubby bear blue!

Joe and i have been keeping pretty busy. The week after our awesome Jeremy Camp concert experience (last post), we drove down to Charleston, IL to visit my brother Kevin and his wife Sonya. We had a great time chatting, laughing, and bonfiring :)

Me and Kevin, normal as ever.

What? You expected something actually normal? :)

Joe and I also had the pleasure of visiting with his family two weekends ago to enjoy a Road Rally and Halloween party, and also to witness the premiere of our wedding video with Joe's family. We had such a great time, we forgot to take pictures!!
Last weekend, we went downtown to celebrate Joe's 27th birthday!!! We stayed at the Doubletree on the Mag Mile. Joe had to work pretty late Friday night, so the festivities didn't begin until almost 9 pm, but we still had a wonderful time together.
Of course, we had to capture a memory at Joe's place of employment, Northern trust. this isn't the actual building where he works though...

Friday night we ate burgers and fish and chips at Boston Blackie's, where we could watch the Celts game. They won, just for Joe's birthday. (The Truth called me up and told me that :)

Since our evening began so late, we didn't feel like turning in right after dinner, so we went to an Irish pub called Fado's. Really tasty Irish coffees and an interesting one man band named Morgan who played all 80's retro pop, some 80's rock, and some traditional Irish melodies. Very fun, nostalgic times.

We went shopping the next day, then out to dinner at Cafe Spiaggia. You gotta fancy it up a bit for your husband's birthday :) Again, we had so much fun, we forgot to take pictures.
Well, that's it for now. I think I'll go join my husband on the couch and watch Batman the Beginning.
God bless,
~Erin (&Joe)

Jeremy Camp

Praise Jesus! Erin and I had a great night with Bebo Norman, Natalie Grant and my personal favorite, Jeremy Camp. I was impressed by Bebo Norman. I'm not a huge fan of his music, but he played all acoustic and his voice sounds even better live. Not to mention that he was so down to earth. Natalie Grant was very lively and energetic. Erin really enjoyed her opening act. As for Jeremy? ... He did not disappoint. We had Gold Circle seats, which was first come first serve. We ended up in the front row just right of dead center. The only thing that kind of stunk was that it got so packed that they had to seat people in front of us on the floor. Oh well, we were all there to praise and worship. It's all about the Body of Christ. We always walk away from Jeremy's concert feeling renewed and inspired. He is a great instrument of Christ. Here are some pictures, Enjoy!

Life After The Wedding

Well, there are not as many exciting events going on with the wedding being in the past. But, we are still having fun. Thanks to Erin's Aunt and Uncle, we had great seats to the U2 concert at Soldier Field. Even though we only knew 10 out of 22 songs, they still put on a great show. The stage was absolutetly "ginormous" and wild. We also went to Notre Dame's home opener vs. Nevada. So far it has definitely been the best game of the season. ND has been shaky the past couple weekends, but I'm hoping for continued improvement. Erin and I are off from work this Friday as we are going to see Jeremy Camp in West Chicago (close to our reception site). We are excited as Jeremy is one of our favorites. Bebo Norman and Natalie Grant will be the opening acts. Hopefully, we will have some pictures next week.

Ritz Carlton - How we miss thee!

We are married! It has been bliss since Aug 8! I love coming home and knowing my wife is there waiting for me. I love that she sometimes makes dinner. And, I especially love going to sleep and waking up with her beside me. The wedding was incredible! We have heard nothing but great things from our family and guests. We feel truly blessed. Everytime we hear "I Gotta Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas, we can't help but smile. I think it's our official song now, and it will forever remind of us of our special day. Hawaii was incredible too! Despite the threat of rain from Felicia, we had incredible weather everyday. The Ritz Carlton was perfect, and we enjoyed the wonderful fish and banana smoothies, sunsets, pool, ocean and helicopter ride. Thanks to all that attended the wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony and one heck of a party! :-) It's been back to reality for the past couple weeks. I have been busy at work. Erin just started on Tuesday back at Eisenhower Middle School. With the number of students she has it's going to be a challenging year. She will do just fine. But, it's going to take some time for her old students to get used to calling her Mrs. Harmon ;-)

Love to all,
Erin and Joe Harmon

It's Happening!

Wow ... less than a week away! Can you believe it?!?! Erin and I are so excited! But, we are also very busy with the finishing touches to make it a beautiful ceremony and one heck of a party. We want our guests to have a blast! Anyways, here are a few pics of Erin's progress with moving in with her husband-to-be in a few days. It's the first time I have had this many girlie things in my apartment. I am probably going to have to move all my stuff into the storage closet ;-) We can't wait to start our life together. We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!

Love,
Joe and Erin
